Job Description

Quick overview of the role 
We are currently seeking an experienced Operator/Welder to join the team in a full-time capacity.  This role is responsible for constructing pile cages (footing cages and pad footings) using tack welds.  At minimum, you will operate auto cage pile machines, MIG welders, 5-inch angle grinder, overhead crane, clamps and jigs.  This position is based at Currumbin.

What will you be doing?

  • Build required cages in accordance with the specifications provided by customers
  • Maintain and operate all cage making machines, cranes, and welding equipment in a safe manner
  • Pre-start checks on the cage making machine, crane, and welding machines
  • Ensure tags are scanned and attached to cages as required
  • Check that the product has been produced to the correct measurement 
  • Follow expected work methods for the welder, cage maker and cages
  • Ensure the correct PPE is worn
  • Produce required cages as efficiently and as safely as possible
  • Spend at least 15 minutes at the end of each shift for general housekeeping of the work area and machinery
  • Report any faults to your Manager or Supervisor immediately
  • Check on loads to ensure safe travel
  • Check bundles to ensure product is secured correctly

Desired Skills and Experience

What are we looking for in the successful candidate?

  • At least six months of previous experience welding
  • Basic metal inert gas welding experience
  • Previous experience reading and interpreting basic drawings
  • Welding Ticket or Fitter Trade Certificate highly regarded
  • Previous experience working in the steel industry highly regarded
  • Forklift license desirable
